Emily Simper – Family Law Attorney

Emily Simper provides domestic relations and estate planning services for Northeast, Wyoming. A fan of serving small communities in professional, meaningful ways, she believes that people are her business. Emily cares about what matters most to you.

Emily earned her undergraduate degree from Brigham Young team and went to the regional competition in Seattle, Washington. She worked in the Estate Planning Clinic and Civil Services Clinic and received the Excellence in Advocacy Award.During law school, Emily worked as a legal intern for the city of Jackson, Wyoming. She drafted a legal brief about citizens’ rights and responsibilities regarding short-term rental properties in the resort town. Her extensive legal research and clear writing broke down complex issues in a simple and concise way, swaying the city council to break a nine-month deadlock over this highly debated topic. As a result of her brief, the Wyoming legislature drafted and enacted legislation altering statewide building code requirements.g University of Idaho focusing on Business and Communications, graduating with honors. In 2013, she attended the University of Wyoming College of Law. She was selected to represent the college’s top trial students in the Spence Law Historical Trial Reenactment. Appearing before a Wyoming Supreme Court Justice, she secured a guilty verdict in the Abraham Lincoln moot court murder trial. Emily was also member of the Hirst Applegate Moot Court Competition

In 2017, Emily joined The RT Cox Law Firm in Gillette, Wyoming, focusing on domestic relations, including divorce, custody modifications, adoption, and guardianships. She also practiced civil litigation, landlord/tenant disputes, estate planning, and probate. As a public defender for the state of Wyoming during 2017 and 2018 she defended the rights of those unable to afford legal representation. Emily joined the Berger & Brown team in 2019 and looks forward to helping individuals and families navigate the legal process amid life’s challenges.

When she is not doing battle at the courthouse or assisting others plan for their future, Emily is a teacher for her church’s youth group and serves as a committee member for two local theater organizations. Her greatest joy comes from spending time with her family. Emily is an accomplished pianist, she enjoys reading, antiquing, and causing the slow death of all things green in her garden.
